A CDC report and FEMA tables that have not formally been made public projects that by the end of June the US will be seeing
- 200,000 new Covid-19 cases per day, and
- 3,000 deaths related to Covid-19 per day. (1)
The report explains why Trump was talking about 100,000 deaths from the virus. In fact, it’s likely to be more than that. With 69,116 deaths as of today, we could pass 100,000 in May with no clear end in sight. The CDC has estimated up to 240,000 deaths, and the high end of that estimate seems plausible.
Conversely, hospitals in the US are losing collectively $1.4 billion per day, due in part to the elimination of elective surgeries due to the virus.(2)
It just keeps coming.
