Life Expectancy in the US

The new CDC report out today documents a slight decline in life expectancy in the US. We had another decline in 2015. and 2016 was no change. This is the first flat-to-down change in life expectancy over a three year period since World War I.

The causes of the decline are growing numbers of drug overdoses and suicides.

We know that seniors are stuggling with high health care costs, and that is contributing to the increase in suicides. We also know that the GOP is talking about cuts in Medicare, which will make the situation for many of the elderly quite a bit more dire.

No other industrialized country has the problem with suicides and overdoses that the US has.

Making America different, not great.
