China now has a new “space tracking station” in Argentina.
The station was negotiated in secret and became operational in March. While it’s stated purpose is to support the Chinese mission to the Moon, it can also conduct intelligence gathering against the US and particularly against the US Pacific Fleet.
This is part of a string of investments in Central and South America that China is making to displace the US as the principal economic partner for the region. China is making similar moves with Canada, seeking to reduce the reliance of all countries in the Western Hemisphere on the US. Meaning fewer exports and fewer US jobs.
We may face a wall in the future, but it’s not the one Trump envisioned building.
And the current administration is doing nothing.
