Vic Crain we have had this discussion a year or two ago. Domestic violence is all about coercion and control. In Maine, legislators are just now looking aa “Red Flag” law that will remove firearms from suspected abusers. This falls short in many ways. Any new law needs to empower those in fear and do more to keep people safe and contain the most dangerous among us. this includes GPS monitoring and no bail holds for those who violate orders of protection. I have proposed using a domestic violence registry that requires people who are adjudicated and the subject of protection from abuse orders to register with local authorities. This will protect communities from the silent minority of disaffected, violent abusive people by exposing them and keeping them on police radar.
