Louisiana is one of the states (Mississippi, Kentucky, West Virginia) that ranks at or near the bottom in the US on virtually everything that matters in having a good life — education, income, health, life expectancy, you name it.
As if to demonstrate why they deserve the low ranking, students this week talked about how the mathematical symbol for a square root resembles a gun. (Huh? Where was the teacher?) The conversation spiraled out of control and caused the police to be summoned and a student’s house to be searched.
If that’s a gun, then this is the Mona Lisa.
Did the cops know what the symbol was?
Thanks to Clarissa for pointing this out.
