A new report today informs us that Cologuard has a higher rate of compliance by patients than traditional methods for screening for colon cancer.(1)
In English, with only slight hyperbole, in testing for colon cancer, would you rather
- Submit a stool sample or
- Have someone shove a periscope up your ass to look around?
Like that’s a real choice?
If you’ve missed the ads, Cologuard is one of several new alternatives to traditional colonoscopies that permit physicians to test for the presence of cancer without going inside the body to look. These non-invasive options are safer, less expensive, less messy and less time-consuming than the traditional exam.
It’s rather a big deal. Colo-rectal cancer is a growing (no pun intended) issue among 20-35 year olds. Letting it grow undetected, and then either dying or wearing a colostomy bag for the rest of one’s life is no one’s idea of a good time.
You need to know about these non-invasive options and shop for a doctor who is willing to use them — and then get tested.
