There’s a Turkish doctor I know who swears by this concoction: he says that people who drink one a day don’t get cancer.
I can’t find any data to support or refute his claim. The recipe is very high in antioxidants.
What my wife and I have found is that if we drink two of these a day in place of breakfast and lunch, we aren’t hungry and can lose a couple of pounds per week quite easily. It also knocks down the cost of groceries; kale is cheap.
Here’s the recipe:
- Two cups of kale
- Two cups of water
- One 1-inch thick ring of pineapple (3 rings of canned pineapple)
- One green apple including skin, cored and cubed (e.g., a Granny Smith)
Blend until smooth.
One can substitute fresh spinach for kale; kale is preferred. Or you can mix the two for taste.
For variety, one can substitute two cups of mixed berries for the pineapple.
Bon appetit!
