A Rare Comment on Food

I had the opportunity to dine recently with a couple who are part of the family that operates Dittmer Meat, located southwest of St. Louis in the town of Dittmer.  Website:  dittmermeats.com

Three comments:

  1. The meat is absurdly good.  I sampled steak, beef and chicken sausage and pork sausage, all of which was among the best I have tasted in my 63 years. (And yes, I have dined in some of the finest steak places in NY, Chicago, and Philadelphia.)
  2. They raise the animals and the animals are grass fed with no chemicals.  I saw the farm.
  3. They really underprice what they sell.  The prices are way below Wal-Mart, with quality on a par with Capitol Grille.  Think about it.  Would you rather pay $60 for a steak in a restaurant, or buy the same or better meat from Dittmer for less than $10?

For anyone going to or within driving distance of St. Louis, this is worth a visit.
